Big news out of California!
Gov. Gavin Newsom has unveiled a proposal to end sales taxes for diapers and period supplies.
Plus, he has proposed a $1,000 tax credit for families with children under 6.
“From diapers to childcare, raising kids is expensive wherever you live,” Newsom said in a statement. “But when you factor in the cost of living here in California, it is close to impossible.”
Female lawmakers have tried to end sales taxes on diapers and tampons for years, arguing they should not be taxed because they are medically necessary.
